Exciting Times in the Carolinas for Squash! Update from Connie Barnes

Connie Barnes from Carolinas Squash spent two weekends in the RTP area that encompasses Durham, Cary and more with Coach Lucas joining in a providing clinics.

Connie visited several cities interested in moving squash forward including Rocky Mount, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Durham and Greensboro.  Coach Lucas did clinics for adults and juniors at Cary and also for the UNC Chapel Hill teams on their brand new courts. They also met with leaders,including UNC Chancellor Frank Gilliam,  coaches ans players from several communities to assist with developing new facilities.

Charlotte Squash Club is holding a juniors tournament with 55 juniors over Thanksgiving which is one of the largest junior tournaments recorded south of DC. Coach Amr has four schools attending twice weekly clinics with CCDS Middle school bringing 31 kids.  In October, Charlotte Prep School sent over 100 grade 3- 6 students for the PE classes over a 2 week period. The kids said it was great fun!

There will also likely be a new squash club opening later Summer 2020 at the Wake Competition center!

Exciting times in NC as well as SC as interest in the sport increases!
